Asiana resumes A380 flights starting on September 1st

It now appears that Asiana, like Korean Air, will resume flying its A380s on September 1st, 2020. Asiana will operate the A380 on flights from ICN to:

  • LAX (2x daily)
  • FRA
  • BKK
  • TPE (2x daily)

The 2 daily A380 flights to TPE are interesting since this is a short haul route with non-stop competition from EVA Air, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Korean Air. It will be interesting to see if there’s enough demand to justify two A380s worth of capacity.

Of course, since Asiana no longer operates a first class cabin, it’s easy enough for them to swap out the A380 with other aircraft. Asiana will rely on the A350 for flights to JFK, SYD and HKG.
