British Airways’ A380s will resume flying on September 1st

With 12 A380 deliveries, British Airways has the fourth-largest A380 fleet in the world (tied with Qantas). And, aside from Emirates, BA has one of the most aggressive plans for resuming A380 flights. Starting on September 1st, BA will resume A380 flights from LHR to:

  • HKG
  • SIN
  • JNB
  • YVR
  • SFO
  • ORD

These six daily flights represents half of BA’s A380 fleet. Routes to LAX, BOS, and IAD will be served by a mix of 747s, 777s and 787s.

The return of BA’s A380 provides the potential for some pretty epic award journeys on the A380. For example, you can fly from SFO to LHR, then LHR to SIN all in first on BA’s A380. This will cost you 170k miles plus $1,259…not cheap, but not bad for two first class tickets that will take you nearly around the globe.

Do note that award availability from LHR to either SIN or HKG on the A380 is pretty limited.
