Emirates’ A380 returns to US skies on September 1st

We just reported on Emirates’ partner award availability from the US to DXB starting in mid-July. This good news came with a couple caveats, however:

  1. While partner award availability from the US to DXB started from July 10, 2020, award availability from DXB to the US was limited until August 22, 2020.
  2. Flights in July and August were all on Emirates’ 777

But the good news is that according to flight schedule data, the iconic Emirates A380 will be returning to US skies on September 1st, 2020. On that day, we’ll actually see five Emirates A380s take off from the following US airports:

  • 2 from JFK
  • 1 from IAD
  • 1 from LAX
  • 1 from SFO

Let’s take a closer look at the LAX flight. At 8:55am on September 1st, EK215 will take off from DXB on its way to LAX. This A380 will spend 16 hours and 20 minutes in the air and land in LAX at 2:15pm. At 4:40pm, the same aircraft will make its way back to DXB as DK216.

Emirates flights to ORD, SEA, BOS, FLL and DFW will be operated by 777s.

Award availability continues to be excellent on Emirates, and you can grab a first class seat on Emirates A380 flight from SFO to DXB on September 1st for a cool 150k miles. It’s important to note that Emirates has been making a number of changes with its aircraft schedules – last week it looked like the A380 would return to the US in August.
