Well thankfully, Lufthansa has resumed releasing first class inventory to partners. You can, for example, hop on a first class flight from LAX to FRA tomorrow. I’ve gone through the booking process, and this is not phantom award inventory.

There’s also some availability for return flights from FRA to LAX and ORD over the next 14 days.
Lufthansa is a Star Alliance member, and United or Life Miles are good partners to book with.
Of course, it’s not the best time to travel to Europe – especially if you’re a US citizen. But the more important takeaway is that Lufthansa’s first class operations are returning to normal. Now if they’d only get their A380s back in the air…
