Etihad’s first class suite, dubbed “The Apartment”, is one of the best in the world. On my list, it ranks behind only Singapore Airlines’ new first class suites on the A380. Despite fears that Etihad would ground its A380 fleet permanently, the airline has scheduled the A380 on its AUH to SYD route starting on August 1st, 2020, and on many other routes starting in December.
It’s tough to book Etihad’s first class Apartment with miles. American Airlines is one of Etihad’s partners, but first class award space is often very limited. Paying for a first class seat can put you back over $10k, although we’ve written in the past about how creative routing can get you aboard The Apartment for around $4k.
Today, we have an even better deal for you. You can fly first class on Etihad’s Apartment between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Paris (CDG) for about $3,800. The only catch is that you’ll have to reposition yourself to Phuket, Thailand (HKT) first.
This is not a full first class itinerary. The HKT to AUH leg is in business on Etihad’s 777 – not a bad ride at all. You’ll continue from AUH to CDG on the A380 in first class.
Unfortunately, stopovers in AUH aren’t possible for this trip. But there’s no maximum stay in Paris, so you can turn this into two trips over the course of a year.
Availability for this fare is good starting in January 2021. You can book this itinerary in late September/early October, but the AUH to CDG leg will be operated on an Etihad 777, not the A380, which is not nearly as spectacular of an experience.
