The last several months have been tough for…well…pretty much the whole world. Airlines have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic and a recovery is expected to take several years.
But, earlier this week we did see a bit of bright news. Emirates’ A380s took back to the skies and resumed performing passenger flights. The airline’s A380 schedule was still pretty minimal and involved mostly flights between Paris, London and Dubai. But still, an A380 in the skies seems like at least a partial first step towards recovery.
Emirates is currently using its newest planes – all less than 3 years old – for these first flights. Over the next few weeks, we’ll see the airline put more and more of its A380s back into service.
Emirates and China Southern, which didn’t ground its A380 fleet, are the only two carriers flying The Whale.
